What is occupational therapy’s role in treating urinary incontinence?

Occupational therapy helps address urinary incontinence by strengthening pelvic floor muscles, improving toileting habits, and integrating behavioral techniques to regain bladder control and improve quality of life.

What can I expect at my first pelvic health OT session?

Your first session will include a private, respectful conversation about your symptoms, daily routines, and goals. We may assess pelvic floor function and begin building a treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Is pelvic floor therapy painful or invasive?

Most treatments are non-invasive and pain-free. If we ever need to do internal work, we’ll talk about it first — and only move forward with your full comfort and consent.

Do you provide treatment for urinary incontinence in male patients?

At this time, our pelvic health services are focused exclusively on women. We do not currently offer treatment for urinary incontinence in male patients. If you are looking for resources, we’re happy to help point you in the right direction.

Do you work with children?

We focus on adult care, so we do not offer pediatric occupational therapy services.

Do you provide occupational therapy after a hysterectomy or pelvic surgery?

Yes. We offer specialized pelvic health occupational therapy to support recovery after procedures such as hysterectomy, C-section, or pelvic organ prolapse repair. Treatment focuses on restoring pelvic floor function, managing scar tissue, improving core stability, and addressing changes in bladder, bowel, or sexual function.

How soon after surgery can I begin pelvic health therapy?

In most cases, therapy can begin once cleared by your surgeon — often around 4–6 weeks post-op. We customize each plan based on your recovery timeline and goals.

Do you offer occupational therapy support for menopause-related issues?

Yes. We provide occupational therapy interventions for women experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction, bladder changes, and lifestyle disruptions related to menopause. Our goal is to help you manage symptoms, restore function, and improve quality of life through evidence-based, individualized care.

Can you help with postpartum recovery?

Absolutely. We offer postpartum occupational therapy services focused on pelvic health, core strengthening, safe return to daily activities, and managing conditions such as incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse. Therapy is tailored to your recovery goals, whether you are weeks or years postpartum.

What other conditions do you treat in your outpatient occupational therapy practice?

In our outpatient OT practice, we treat a variety of conditions affecting the arm, shoulder, wrist, and hand. These include rotator cuff injuries, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, arthritis, and fractures.

Do I need a referral for occupational therapy services?

Some insurance providers require a referral, but in many cases, you can self-refer. Contact us and we’ll help guide you based on your insurance and location.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept several major insurance plans. Please review the list of insurance plans on this Website. Call our office for the most up-to-date list or to verify your benefits.

What services do you offer for colleges or universities?

We provide consulting for institutions developing new occupational therapy programs — including feasibility studies, academic program proposal, curriculum design, accreditation support, and site visit readiness.

Are your consulting services available nationally or locally?

We offer both virtual and on-site consulting services to institutions across the U.S. and internationally, depending on your project needs.

What experience do you have with program development?

Our team brings extensive experience in academia and occupational therapy education, including leadership roles in launching accredited OT programs at the master’s and doctoral levels.
